Time to Start Seeds For Summer Bell Peppers - 1/13/2024

Watering
The Bell Pepper seedlings are put in the raised bed somewhere around April or May. I start off watering once a day for 5 minutes with my single 1/16" emitters. Once the temperatures get a bit hotter and the air is dryer, I switch to twice a day - at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm. If the temperatures are going to be VERY HOT, I will suppliment this watering and I will additionally water in the morning of the expected high temperatures.
Feeding
I start off my garden by adding one inch of homemade compost to the raised bed. This is probably sufficient to feed the plants for several months, but I will still supplement this with either granular fertilizer or liquid fertilizer every one or two weeks after the seedlings are established after two weeks.
Seasons
Even though bell peppers can be left in the garden all year round, I choose to replant them each year as I don't want to dedicate the space to overwinter them. I rotate brocolli and cauliflower in their raised be locations.
My Spring/Summer 2024 Season is underway!

Seeds
I love Bell Peppers and grow few other pepper varieties. I usually grow 'California Wonder' as they are very productive and I don't have many problems with them. I have also tried the variety 'Lunch Box' (smaller peppers - similar to what you can buy in the grocery store) in the past, but the quantity of peppers produced was just so much lower, that I won't try them again.
