Protect Your Peppers From the Sun With a Sun Shade

8/6/2024
When July and August hit Southern California, the days warm up an the intensity of the sun peaks for the summer. This unfortunately comes with a price - Suncald, Heat Stress, Heat Damage, or Sunburn - whatever you call it this is important to take care of and can be done with a sun shade.

Protect the Sides

I also come down the east and south edges of my sun shade to prevent sunburn from the exposure to the sun on the edges of my Bell Peppers.

Finished - Here is how it looks!

I Use a 55% Sunblock Sade Cloth

This is what I bought Last Year to deal with this problem and it lasted throughout the 2023 season and was in fine shape to use it again.

I Bought a Grommet Tool Kit

To fasten the sun shade to my four posts, I bought a lifetime supply of grommets with this Grommet Tool Kit, which worked out quite well, and will probably come in handy for the years to come.
